News of the Day! On October, 13, 2009 the Vologda Oblast delegation took part in the presentation of the International Festival of Young European Cinema " VOICES " in Paris.

The festival is planned for July, 2010 in Vologda Oblast within the framework of the Year of France in Russia and Year of Russia in France together with the French partner - firm " ID-REEL ". The project is defined as a forum of different fiction films and is focused, first of all, on young directors and the young spectator. In its duration and form it is seen as continuation of the International Theatrical Forum " Voices of History » with night viewings in the open-air. By the way, and the name "VOICES" (Vоlogda Independent Cinema from European Screens Festival) which is deciphered as « the Vologda independent innovative film festival », is an equivalent of the English word "voices".

The presentation of the film festival "VOICES" took place in the cinema hall « Mac Mahon ». The cinema hall is located in the historically significant area of the French capital (near the Triumphal arch) and attracts admirers of cinematography, and film business representatives.

Among the honoured guests of the event were: the Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia in France Alexander Konstantinovich Orlov with his wife; the official representative of the Ministry of Culture and Communications of France, the commissioner of the Year of Russia in France and Year of France in Russia Nicolas Chibaeff, the Adviser, the head of the group of culture of the Russian Embassy in France Alexey Ivanovich Golub; the secretary of the group of culture of the Russian Embassy in France Lyudmila Pavlovna Loginova; the Second secretary of the Russian Embassy in France Natalia Borisovna Lyubimova, representatives of the Russian and French mass-media.

The Vologda Oblast was presented by the Vologda Oblast First Deputy Governor Ivan Anatolyevich Pozdnyakov, Vologda Mayor Eugeny Borisovich Shulepov, the Head of the Vologda Oblast Department of Culture and Protection of Objects of Cultural Heritage Valentina Vasilyevna Ratsko, the Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Protection of Objects of Cultural Heritage Nadezhda Dmitrievna Ilyashenko.

Due to the photo-exhibition of Vologda City sights prepared by the Vologda Oblast Department of Culture and Protection of Objects of Cultural Heritage in the foyer of the cinema, all the participants got an impression of our city.

Special interest was paid to the exhibition of the Vologda lace. The samples exhibited were taken from the Vologda State Museum - Reserve of History, Architecture and Art funds. Natalia Alekseevna Zolotova, the deputy director on scientific work of the establishment told the visitors about it.
