NATIONAL PARK

National Park "Russian North" created at the territory of Kirillov district at March 20 1992 for the preservation of unique nature of Vologda  region.

Area of the park is 166400 hectares. There are two unique forestlands at its territory - Shalgo-Bodunovskiy and Sokolskiy forest that surprise us their rich and varied north nature.

Uncountable rivers, lakes, brooks of the park belong to the Caspian Sea basin, only some rivers - to the White Sea basin.

There are more then 1000 species of plants including 60 rare ones at the park. 8 species are recorded at the Red Book.

There are 269 species of backboned animals, 29 species of fishes, 6 - amphibia, 6 - reptiles, 178 - birds, 50 - mammalian animals at the park.


There is famous North-Dvina transport water system, built at 1825-1828.
